We invite you to join Path to Open, a new collaboration between JSTOR, university presses, and libraries that addresses the challenges of funding Open Access (OA) books.

View the first 100 titles featuring peer-reviewed monographs in disciplines across the humanities and social sciences, with an emphasis on works that bring forward diverse perspectives and ideas.

Starting in the fall of 2023, participating libraries will acquire unlimited, exclusive access on JSTOR to high-quality frontlist Path to Open books every year. Three years after publication, the titles will then be released openly to the world.

In alignment with JSTOR’s mission, this model provides a pathway for equitable access and impact for the entire scholarly community:

  • University presses can publish Open Access books sustainably
  • Libraries acquire affordable, high-quality frontlist titles
  • Readers worldwide gain access to valuable content
  • Authors reach a global audience
