Frequently asked questions

Who is JPASS for?

JPASS is designed for independent researchers, writers, educators, and lifelong learners who need reliable academic sources without institutional access.

Why should I pay for JPASS if some content is free?

Free access on JSTOR is limited to select content and online-only reading. JPASS gives you full access to thousands of journals, plus the ability to download and keep articles for your work.

What journals can I access with JPASS?

JPASS gives you access to 2,400+ archival journals on JSTOR, as well as the Struggles for Freedom: Southern Africa primary source collection. A small number of journals aren’t included in this program, and you can search and browse the full list of content available through JPASS on the JPASS Collection page.

What is the refund policy for JPASS?

Refunds are available only for the yearly JPASS plan. You can request a refund within two weeks of purchase if no more than 10 article PDFs were downloaded and saved during that time.

I just bought a JPASS. How do I access JSTOR?

JPASS requires a JSTOR account, which you’ll create during checkout. If you already have an account, you can use the same username and password to sign up for JPASS. Use these credentials to log in to JSTOR from anywhere, anytime.

Will my JPASS renew automatically?

If you have a JPASS subscription, it will renew automatically unless you cancel before your renewal date. We’ll send you a reminder email 7 days before a monthly subscription renews and 30 days before an annual subscription renews. The email includes a link to cancel your plan. You can also cancel your subscription at any time from the Access Plan page in your account.
