What’s the product description?
Publisher Collections is an innovative new model within the Books at JSTOR program that helps libraries efficiently acquire and access scholarly ebooks from trusted academic publishers at scale. Developed by nonprofit JSTOR, in partnership with academic libraries and publishers, Publisher Collections helps simplify workflows, lower operational burden, and enhance discovery and access across disciplines.
Beginning in 2026 with a growing list of 20+ presses, this is among the first nonprofit-led publisher collection models. Each Publisher Collection includes a perpetual JSTOR license to current publication year title sets from a press, with seamless access to all their earlier titles on JSTOR for active participants. Collections will be available through a tiered fee structure based on JSTOR’s classification methodology, making ebook access more equitable for institutions of all sizes worldwide.
Who are you targeting?
Your primary audience is librarian buyers—decision-makers at academic institutions who oversee ebook acquisitions and have the authority to commit budgets. These individuals are essential to the success of Publisher Collections because their participation directly supports publisher revenue and open access growth.
- Typical roles include
- E-resources librarian
- Acquisitions librarian
- Collection development librarian
- Subject specialist
- Publishing and Open Access librarian
- Dean/Director of libraries
- Consortia coordinator
- What they value
- Affordable, predictable pricing
- Streamlined acquisition processes that save staff time
- Access to high-quality scholarly content from specific presses like yours that supports research and teaching
- Equity of access for institutions of all sizes
- Working with nonprofit, mission-aligned partners
- Key needs we address
- Simplification: Full run collections remove the need for title-by-title selection.
- Budget alignment: Tiered and equitable pricing models help libraries do more with less.
- Workflow efficiency: Integrated access to current-year and earlier titles on JSTOR.
- Discoverability: Seamless integration into JSTOR’s platform along with journals, research reports and primary sources ensures high visibility and usage.
By focusing on these priorities, your messaging will resonate with librarians facing tight budgets, limited staff capacity, and increasing pressure to provide equitable, wide-reaching access to quality content.
What’s your call to action?
A call to action (CTA) is the specific invitation or prompt that encourages your audience—librarians, in this case—to take the next step. In promotional materials, the CTA is often the most important line, guiding readers toward meaningful engagement.
For the Publisher Collections campaign, your CTA should help librarians understand what to do next, whether it’s learning more about your collection, expressing interest, or contacting someone for more information.
While you’re welcome to promote your own landing pages, we recommend that your primary CTA encourages librarians to learn more about how they can participate in Publisher Collections by visiting JSTOR’s announcement blog or landing page.
