Boston Architectural College (BAC) is expanding its participation in JSTOR Digital Stewardship Services by joining the Tier 3 charter program.
As a Tier 3 charter participant, the BAC will gain access to JSTOR Seeklight, allowing staff to experiment with AI-assisted description and transcript generation for digital collections, while keeping expertise at the center. The BAC has long shared digital collections on JSTOR—including the Rose Kennedy Greenway Collection, featured this August in a JSTOR Daily piece—and will continue to have access to the integrated Stewardship platform, including digital asset management, long-term preservation with Portico, and discovery and access on the JSTOR research platform. Through the charter program, the BAC will also partner with JSTOR and peer institutions to guide the evolution of JSTOR Seeklight and co-develop practices for responsible, AI-assisted stewardship.
The BAC is also one of six Boston Library Consortium (BLC) members participating in JSTOR Stewardship through the BLC’s Digital Stewardship Services Community of Interest.
“We are excited to join the JSTOR Stewardship charter program through the Boston Library Consortium, as it will offer robust support for our digital image and archival collections throughout their lifecycles,” said Kathryn McClintock, Associate Director of the Library at Boston Architectural College. “We are interested to explore an AI-assisted workflow through JSTOR Seeklight, and hope to use it to expand access to our online architecture and design materials.”
“Boston Architectural College brings a vital design-centered perspective to the charter community,” said Jess Clemons, Director of Business Development, JSTOR Stewardship. “We’re excited to work with their team as they apply AI-assisted description to architecture and design materials and help ensure Stewardship evolves in ways that truly serve these collections.”
