DePauw University has joined JSTOR Digital Stewardship Services as a Tier 2 participant, adopting JSTOR’s integrated platform to manage, preserve, and activate its digital collections.

Home to collections spanning student life, university history, Methodist publications, photographs, and audiovisual materials, DePauw sought a unified, supported environment that would enhance discovery and provide robust support for audiovisual collections. Over 125,000 items are now accessible through the DePauw University Digital Archives on JSTOR, with professional migration services assisting in the transition from the university’s previous digital collections platform, CONTENTdm.

As a Tier 2 participant, DePauw will use JSTOR’s cloud-hosted digital asset management environment, long-term preservation services via Portico, and expanded discovery pathways through JSTOR. Their migration consolidates a diverse array of collections—including historical newspapers, yearbooks, university reports, handbooks, catalogs, photographs, audio, video, and more—creating a seamless path for researchers, students, and community members to explore the university’s history.

“By partnering with JSTOR Digital Stewardship Services, we’re ensuring the history and scholarship of both DePauw and the Indiana United Methodist Church remain accessible today and preserved for future generations,” said Bethany Fiechter, Coordinator of Archives and Special Collections at DePauw.

“DePauw’s thoughtful, engaged approach reflects what Stewardship is all about. We’re honored to support their work and help bring these rich collections into the research and teaching workflow,” said Jess Clemons, Director of Business Development, JSTOR Stewardship.
