Transition in JSTOR leadership: a letter from Laura Brown

Rebecca Seger joins ITHAKA as VP of Institutional Participation and Strategic Partnerships

Rebecca Seger joins ITHAKA as Vice President, Institutional Participation and Strategic Partnerships beginning September 30.

Rebecca steps into the position previously held by Bruce Heterick, who has taken on a new role as SVP, Open Collections & Infrastructure. Rebecca will lead global library outreach for JSTOR, Artstor, and Portico, and will work to expand access and deliver high-quality products that meet the needs of our constituents.

Bruce Heterick, ITHAKA Vice President of Institutional Participation and Strategic Partnerships, has been named Senior Vice President, Open Collections & Infrastructure.

Digital preservation service Portico welcomes its 1,000th library

Portico, ITHAKA’s digital preservation service, welcomed the University Library of Erlangen-Nuremberg in Germany as its 1,000th participant this month.

The Library is one of 53 German institutions that joined following an exhaustive evaluation funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (German Research Foundation), which recommended participation in Portico as part of their national strategy for digital preservation of licensed content.Read more»

ITHAKA founder and trustee William G. Bowen dies

The world has lost a uniquely gifted leader and friend. Bill Bowen passed away peacefully at 83 on October 20, 2016. He dedicated his entire professional life to the world of education and was founding chairman of JSTOR and ITHAKA and founding trustee of Artstor. We extend our heartfelt sympathies and deepest condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.
