More than 20 non-US titles in language and literature add new content to the discipline, with leading journals such as Zeitschrift für deutsches Altertum und deutsche Literatur, founded in 1841. Other titles expand the archive’s coverage of this field, including the Journal of South Asian Literature, Revista Chilena de Literatura, and English in Africa. Also available in this collection are Translation and Literature, one of the central journals to the practice and study of translation, Profession from the Modern Language Association, and Studies in Romanticism.
Art and architecture
Features a cluster of art and architecture titles, including a group of rare 19th and early 20th century American Art periodicals. These publications are a rich resource of images and text, covering the development of American visual culture. This selection of rare periodicals includes titles such as 291, created in 1915 by Alfred Stieglitz, Marius de Zayas, Agnes Ernest Meyer, and Paul Haviland. Also of note is Bradley: His Book, first published in 1896 by William H. Bradley, one of the premiere graphic artists of the time.
History
The collection offers an important group of history titles, including non-US journals from Germany, Italy, and Scotland, including The Scottish Historical Review, published since 1886. This discipline cluster also features publications from historical societies such as the Georgia Historical Society, the British Agricultural History Society, the Oral History Society, and at least five state historical associations with journals in publication for more than 100 years.
Philosophy, classical studies, and education
Other key areas of focus are philosophy and classical studies, led by titles such as Glotta, a journal covering classical philology for over a century, with text in German, English, and French. Also of note is a group of education journals, including Research in Higher Education and the AAUP’s Academe, founded in 1915.
