JSTOR partners with APA to provide psychology books online
More than 500 titles available on an array of psychological topics
JSTOR is partnering with the American Psychological Association (APA) to offer academic monographs through JSTOR’s ebook program. More than 500 titles are available now, and APA will continue to add new academic titles as they are published.
“Our partnership with the APA significantly expands JSTOR’s library of psychology resources,” said John Lenahan, Associate Vice President, Published Content at ITHAKA, JSTOR’s parent organization. “Researchers can now discover APA’s ebooks alongside a wide range of content in the social sciences and humanities, helping users discover related resources and make new connections across disciplines.”
Like all ebooks on JSTOR, APA’s titles are accessible in an unlimited-user model without digital rights management restrictions, mirroring the platform’s user experience for journal articles. Ebook chapters are also seamlessly integrated and cross-searchable with journals and primary sources on JSTOR.
Notable content from the APA includes books on an array of psychology topics such as:
- Research methodologies (e.g., qualitative, quantitative, statistics, big data)
- Journal article reporting standards
- Multicultural considerations in research
- Theories of psychotherapy
- Deliberate practice
- Trauma and PTSD
- Group, couple, family, and individual therapies
- Spirituality
Content also includes books addressing particular populations, such as children, immigrants and refugees, the LGBTQ community, and those struggling with addiction and substance use.
“We’re pleased to offer APA’s book content on JSTOR to further our commitment to enhancing discovery and usage of critical psychological research,” said Rose Sokol-Chang, PhD, APA Journals and Books publisher. “With the increased demand for access to digital content, we believe this timely partnership will further our mission of advancing the science and application of psychology to shape the discipline, benefit society, and improve lives.”
Libraries can acquire APA ebooks on JSTOR through Demand-Driven Acquisition or firm orders, either directly through JSTOR or through its partner GOBI Library Solutions. Librarians may request more information on the titles and tiered savings available.
JSTOR is a not-for-profit digital library that partners with libraries, museums, and publishers to provide low-cost access to more than 12 million academic journal articles, 100,000 books and two million primary source documents in 75 disciplines.
APA is the leading scientific and professional organization representing psychology in the United States, with more than 122,000 researchers, educators, clinicians, consultants, and students as its members.
